Buddy Holly fans have always been left waiting in line until this past year. He was the last rock 'n' roll legend to get a legit box set, and his widow has stifled much product from being released.

Fans knew of Alan Clark's "Life & Times" series being in the works for 10+ years now and knowing his wonderful work on past publications, fans grew impatient
and skeptical if this item would ever see the light of day.

One look at this book (and Volume 1) and EVERY Holly fan is stating that these new releases are worth the wait. Imagine opening up an old chest in Grandma's attic packed full of unreleased photos, newspaper clippings, music magazines, programs, and letters from the fans. It would be heavenly of course, and this is exactly what Alan's new books are. This is a huge 160 page book, absolutely crammed with photos, clippings, etc. with full color outer & inside covers and a 6 page color section.

There hasn't been a Buddy Holly book worth buying in many years, and even the general rock 'n' roll fan will find this an enjoyable addition to their collection.
(it features many items on artists that Buddy toured with as well)

Grab a copy from Alan's site: WEBSITE
and watch his upcoming book covering the ill-fated "Winter Dance Party" of 1959 featuring Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and the Big Bopper.

Just got it-great!!! I always take "new" Buddy photos with a grain of salt, but there's a load of photos I've never seen before. Great book. Get it while you can.

Hello Alan,
I received Volume 2 today. It's another gem! Thank you very much.

Dear Alan,
Got the book! I looked through it and it's marvelous! It looks as good or better than volume one. Looking forward to reading it and getting volume three. Thank you.

I thought I'd bump this thread as someone was asking how to order this amazing book. This "scrapbook" format is positively brilliant. Most books have plenty of info, but very few pictures, while other books primarily comprised of photos have very little information. This book (as well as volume one and the Eddie Cochran book) has a great balance of both.
I only wish I had been aware of Alan's work many years earlier. I would love to have his other books and look forward to be among the first to buy Volume 3.

The Buddy Holly books are here. They arrived in perfect condition inside a strong, obviously purposely made, protective box on Wednesday, 26th May. Many thanks for your prompt and courteous attention. I haven't started to read them yet, but flicking through the pages and noting the contents, layout and style, it's going to be very enjoyable when I do.
Regards and best wishes.

Hi Alan!
I recently posted about your books on Bill Griggs' Rockin' 50s board. I currently own the Eddie Cochran book and the first two volumes of the Life and Times of Buddy Holly. I probably own more than 100 music-related biographies and I have to say yours are among the jewels of my collection. Your books, with the photos, clippings, posters and insights are unlike any others in my "library." My wife is trying to convince me to downsize some of my collection, including some of the books. I assure you she will have to pry your books from my cold, dead hands.
If you have any of your other books available, I would love to obtain them for my collection. I know I will enjoy them.
Thank you,
Rick Peters

Hey Alan,
You did it again!  Volume 2 is great - what more can I say?  By the way, Peter Dunnet's colorized photos are unbelievable! Keep on rockin'.

Got my copy of Alan's new book today. Once again Alan has put together a wonderful collection of cuttings and pictures interspersed with his witty and informative narration. Getting this book makes me look forward to his next installment with much anticipation. I heartily recommend the new book to all Buddy Holly fans.

If you liked Alan's first book of Holly and the Crickets, you need to get the second one too. Both must have been compiled by a labor of love. I did not think your first one could be followed, but you did it!

If Chris tells you it's going to rain, you best being your umbrella. I thought Alan had outdone himself with his first book on Holly and the Crickets, but he has done it again with his second one.

Alan - (aka Big Daddy),

This is truly a work of art that you should be proud of, and I'm sure you are. There won't be one fan that gets this that will not agree that it was worth the wait. Superb job my friend, thanks for sending it. I'll get info up on SuperOldies.com and the Buddy site.

A lot of great information and of course let's not forget the photos of which there are many (never before seen) of Buddy and the Crickets. I can't wait for volume #3-the Big Bopper and Ritchie!!!

Hello Alan,
I think it was a great idea to do what you always wanted to do. The result is amazing. You sent me the first book and I must say, that you did a great job on it. This is absolutely different to all the other Buddy Holly books, I must confess. The news about your second book are mentioned on my fan pages. Your researches are absolutely brilliant, labor of love. Once again let me say that you deserve to be presented with your outstanding works. Good luck for the future and thanks for the permission to use all photos of your online archives for my website.
Your brother in Buddy, Hans.

I am pleased to advise that Alan Clark's Volume 2 book on Holly is just as good if not better than Volume 1. I loved it as it is a great job. Looks and feels so professional and the paper adverts in there are great. His research is quite incredible.
Alan has told me today that he has a Volume 3 coming out once he tidies the 1 and 2 sales up. To make enquiries about Alan's great books, please contact him at: aclarkarchive@earthlink.net. I can strongly recommend them.

This volume is well up to the atandard of volume one, i.e. excellent.

Just got both volumes from Alan. What an excellent set of books. I have been reading Buddy books and articles since 1962 and this sets the standard along side Bill's work. Nicely presented-lots of facts and pics-the type of books that are always on the coffee table. Brilliant work Alan. Volume 3??

Just got my books today...to say they, along with Mr. Clark's service, are MOST FANTASTIC is putting it mildly. Those books...actually, treasure troves are a must-have for ANY Buddy/Cricket lover's collection. Mr. Clark's Three Stars CD is also excellent and recommended too if you can still get it.
Will definitely be getting Volume Three and the Winter Dance Party/Three Stars book too when they are released. Many, MANY kudos and thanks to Mr. Clark!

Alan,
I have now read your Buddy Holly books about three times each, from cover to cover, and once I pick one of them up to read I find it very difficult to put it down. Each book is as good as the other and the contents, layout and style are totally superb. A lot of the photos are new to me, as are most of the newspaper and magazine articles. All in all they are marvelous publications and I am most anxious to receive your e-mail informing me that Volume 3 in the series has become available.
Regards and best wishes,
Dave Stone.
